Towards the Adoption of a Law on the Recognition and Protection of Human Rights Defenders

Ministry of Human Rights, Citizenship Training, Relations with the Institutions of the Republic

A meeting between the consultant and stakeholders on the draft law on the recognition and protection of human rights defenders is being held today at the CASEF’s salle entente.

Born during the Minister’s dinner with Human Rights Organisations (HROs) at the Concorde Hotel in June 2019, the proposal of the first draft of this text has undergone several inputs including those of the consultancy firm recruited by UNDP and placed under the direction of Dr. Marius Essohana TONTASSE. It is indeed the draft consolidated by this firm that is being shared with about thirty actors in the field in order to gather their impressions and opinions.

The opening ceremony of this session was chaired by Mr. Adjawè DJERI with the presence of Mr. Mactar FALL, Deputy Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the main donor of the activity.
