Peru: Resolution 0159-2019 on the protection of human rights defenders

This Resolution 0159-2019 was adopted by the Peruvian government in 2019. It has been published as part of the National Strategy on Human Rights 2018-2021, determined in Decree 002-2018-JUS. This strategy provides for the the design and implementation of policies in favor of groups of special protection, and confirms the intention of authorities to promote mechanisms to guarantee the safe exercise of peaceful, non-violent, remunerated and free work of human rights defenders throughout the
country.

In the resolution, the Peruvian state adopts a Protocol to guarantee the protection of human rights defenders which aim is to implement actions, procedures and measures to establish an adequate working environment for human rights defenders.
