Guatemala: Protocol for the Investigation of Crimes Committed Against Human Rights Defenders

On the 4th of May 2018, the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Guatemala approved the Protocol for the Investigation of Crimes Committed against Human Rights Defenders. It was developed by the Unit for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders, Guatemala (UDEFEGUA) and the Centre for Justice and International Law (CEJIL).

The aim of the document is to provide due diligence standards for the investigation, prosecution and criminal proceedings following crimes committed against human rights defenders in Guatemala.
