Togo: Draft Law on the Recognition and Protection of human rights defenders

A meeting between the consultant and stakeholders on the draft law on the recognition and protection of human rights defenders is being held today at the salle entente of the Centre of Administrative, Economic and Financial Services (CASEF).

Born during the Minister’s dinner with Human Rights Organisations (HROs) at the Concorde Hotel in June 2019, the proposal of the first draft of this text has undergone several modifications including those by a consultancy firm recruited by UNDP and directed by Dr. Marius Essohana TONTASSE. This draft is being shared with about thirty actors in the field in order to gather their impressions and opinions.

The opening ceremony of this session was chaired by Mr. Adjawè DJERI with the presence of Mr. Mactar FALL, Deputy Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the main donor of the activity.
