Peru: Ministerial Resolution N° 134-2021-MINAM for the Protection of Environmental Defenders

On the 23rd of July 2021, the Ministry of the Environment adopted Resolution N° 134-2021-MINAM on the Protection of Environmental Defenders. The purpose of this protocol is to establish the general guidelines for the coordination, implementation and evaluation of the application of prevention, recognition and protection measures in charge of the Environmental Sector in order to guarantee the rights of Environmental Defenders, within the framework of the National Environmental Management System and in accordance with the provisions of the Intersectoral Mechanism for the protection of human rights defenders, approved by Supreme Decree No. 004-2021-JUS.
