Brazil: Rio de Janeiro. Law 9322/21 Creating the State Program for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders

The legislative assembly of the state of Rio de Janeiro resolves to create the State Program for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders, Social Communicators and Environmentalists – PEPDDH/RJ by adopting Law 9322/21 on June 14th 2021.

The scope of the PEPDDH/RJ is to articulate and adopt measures to protect and assist Human Rights Defenders – HRDs -, Social Communicators and Environmentalists, who, due to their work in the defense, promotion, and reparation of human rights, are at risk, vulnerable or criminalized.
