Mexico: Initiative Containing Reform of Constitution and Draft General Law to Respect, Protect, Guarantee and Promote the Rights of Human Rights Defenders and Journalists

On the 30th of April 2019, Initiative Containing Draft Decree Reforming Articles 6 and 73 of the Constitution and Draft General Law to Respect, Protect, Guarantee and Promote the Rights of Human Rights Defenders and Journalists.

This initiative seeks to be a basis for discussion, dialogue and enrichment, which the Legislative Branch, the Executive Branch, the Judicial Branch, and institutions such as the CNDH and the Attorney General’s Office have the obligation to promote through forums, roundtables, conferences and debates in which human rights defenders participate, journalists, victims of human rights violations due to their human rights activities or journalism, beneficiaries of the federal protection mechanism, organizations and institutions such as the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Mexico (OHCHR), as well as international organizations and experts on the subject.
